Al Mawarid Induction Programme for Banking

Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies play a positive and effective role in the Emiratisation of the workforce in the different streams of the banking profession. To achieve its objectives and to contribute positively to Emiratisation in the banking sector, it provides the Mawarid Induction Program which is an integrated training program designed to qualify UAE nationals to join the banking sector.

The overall aim of the training program is to provide UAE Nationals with an acceptable level of knowledge and practice in the banking operations. The program will be customized according to the pace and needs of the trainees.

The specific objectives of the program include:

Develop the English Language Skills of participants
Understand and recognize the fundamental principles and concepts of the banking industry.
Develop the competencies (skills, knowledge, attitude) required for a successful banker to be able to function effectively in the bank.
To gain comprehensive understanding of interdepartmental bank functions and operations.

Overall features of Mawarid Program

The program is designed to cover the fundamental principles of banking operations, while also addressing current trend and new developments in the banking sector.

Methodology of the Program:

The program is divided into the following phases: -

Assessment Test (Mathematics and English Language): Courses will be designed according to the trainees’ level in these subjects.

Phase I – English for Banking

A two-week Intensive English Language Course to revise grammar, vocabulary and spoken English.

Phase II : Banking Operations 1

An introductory course on:

Commercial Banking in the UAE
Banking Products
Retail Banking
Mathematics

This phase will be delivered with the aid of the technical staff and outsourced instructors.

Phase III : Banking Operations 2

This phase is based on the subjects introduced in Phase Two, yet more advanced. Trainees will be introduced to:

Business Studies
Credit Area
Trade Finance
Marketing
Money Laundering

Due to the specialized aspect of the Program, the exact content of classes should be designed in consultation with the client-bank.

Phase IV : Computer Course

This phase is crucial and complementary to the previous phases, thus consisting of:

Computer Applications
E banking

Phase V : Soft Skills

This phase is the development of individual skills particularly team work, customer service, communications and work ethics.

Mechanism of program execution:

The institute formulates and delivers its programs according to the needs of the trainees. Courses will be tailor-made on a group-by-group basis.

The duration of any program may range from two to three months, five days a week, with 5 hours instructions per day.
